I'm fascinated by man made materials and the qualities and possibilities to manipulate and transform them. I took the concept of burn-out and removed the metallic surface from the material leaving the sheer polyester.

This is a older example of a project I did at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. I created a series of sequin dresses that I hand cut all of the sequin forms with a hydraulic press. I was fascinated by popular symbols in corporate culture. The subliminal messages through branding that bombard us every day.
I found an interesting fabric that was dyeable and could take the burn-out process that could be also be pleated. I created a collection of hand-printed, hand-pleated dresses and tops for my very first clothing collection that won the Gen Arts award in 2008.
